Welcome Reception - Telangana Global AI Summit 2024

The Global AI Summit 2024 commenced with a welcome reception hosted by World Trade Center Shamshabad. This event brought together influential leaders, industry experts, and stakeholders to explore the future of artificial intelligence. The summit served as a platform for discussing strategic opportunities, AI’s potential impact on various sectors, and Telangana’s long-term growth vision.

Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of the Government of Telangana, delivered a keynote address. He emphasized the importance of fostering AI-driven governance and stakeholder education, noting that Telangana is committed to creating a strategic roadmap for AI adoption. Ranjan also praised World Trade Center Shamshabad’s role in driving economic initiatives and highlighted Telangana’s unique position as the first state in the region to host such a facility. His remarks underscored the collaborative efforts between various stakeholders to facilitate learning and innovation.

Robin Van Puyenbroeck, representing the World Trade Center Association, reiterated Telangana's impressive growth trajectory, fueled by the vision of Chief Minister Shri A Revanth Reddy. He highlighted the state’s projected $1 trillion growth in the coming years and how AI City will play a central role in this transformation. Additionally, Robin emphasized the global presence of the World Trade Center Association, which operates across 98 countries, and its role in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) within Telangana’s economic growth narrative.

K. Madhan Mohan, an AI expert with over 25 years of experience, offered his insights into AI’s potential to drive employment and revolutionize industries. He advocated for increased AI education and awareness, stressing that 90% of the population must grasp AI fundamentals. Madhan Mohan expressed optimism about Hyderabad’s emergence as an AI hub and AI’s transformative role, particularly in agriculture, where it could have a significant impact on rural populations.

The soft launch of World Trade Center Shamshabad, a mini-smart city in Telangana, was another major highlight. The project aims to create an innovative, sustainable business ecosystem by establishing global capability centers, development hubs, and international trade offices. With a focus on generating over 400,000 jobs and boosting revenue by $5 billion, WTC Shamshabad is designed to foster global connectivity through its strategic location near Hyderabad’s airport and financial district.

Shri D. Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s IT Minister, warmly welcomed the delegates to the summit and emphasized the state’s ambition to become a global technology hub, especially in AI development. He reaffirmed Telangana’s commitment to leveraging AI for societal benefit, with a particular focus on young engineers’ contributions to innovation. He concluded his remarks by thanking WTC Shamshabad’s leadership for their role in supporting Telangana’s vision.
